2008 Royal Canadian Mint Playing Card Money Set, a collection of four rectangular sterling silver proof coins.

The set commemorates the fascinating history of "playing card money" used in New France during the 17th and 18th centuries when coinage was scarce.

It comprises four $15 denomination sterling silver coins, each depicting a different playing card: the Jack of Hearts (2008), Queen of Spades (2008), Ten of Spades (2009), and King of Hearts (2009).

Each coin is uniquely rectangular, mirroring the shape of historical playing cards. They feature selective coloring and gold plating along the edges and showcase a single, right-side-up image of the playing card design, reflecting pre-1870 traditions.

The coins are struck from 92.5% pure silver with a touch of copper for durability. The set had a limited mintage of 25,000.

The collection is housed in its original Royal Canadian Mint packaging, which typically includes a velvet-lined display case and often comes with serialized certificates of authenticity for each coin.
